Don’t want your guests stumbling through the dark at your event? Follow the five steps below to lighten up your venue:
1) Bring in bright Drape. Wrapping the room in white or ivory chiffon allows light to bounce off of it and illuminate the room more effectively than dark walls or black drape. If possible, hang the drape to the ceiling to create a cohesive effect.
2) Eye Catching Projections. Add Gobos and moving lights on the drape or use the drape for a projection surface. We have projected flags, pictures of couples for their wedding and all sorts of slow moving graphics. These absolutely add to your messaging.
3) Up high. Use ceiling lighting- think lighted chandeliers, Chinese lanterns, string lights or other hanging lights. Use decorative lighting that fits your décor theme. Now that battery operated LED lighting is available, you have lots of options! Most battery operated LEDs come with a remote control and lots of lighting options.
4) To the side. Wall lighting is also an option. Use wall washes or LED par can lighting to “wash” the wall in color. The great thing is that you can choose between several different options to achieve the right look for your event.
5) Down low. Table and furniture lighting- this lighting is what you might see in a night club or über modern hotel. (Think W Hotels) Lighted cocktail tables, bars, end tables, furniture, and planters add a suave look to your decor. If this is a bit more modern than you’re hoping for, consider centerpiece lighting for the center of your tables.
Bonus tips….
• For a darker room, use light colored linens and consider white chair covers to make the space feel brighter.
• Servers can carry light up trays for serving hors d oeuvres & drinks.
• Use low-hanging lighting over each table or pin lighting *Caution: Make sure table placement is designed before lighting goes in or this can be a very frustrating process.*
• Small battery operated cabaret lights are a great addition to centerpieces. The new battery operated candles that are smaller or LED lights in a multifaceted candle holder can also help reflect lighting.
