Idea Generation and Increasing Creativity

Increase creativity and idea production by changing your environment or operating out of your norm

We have all had those days when our brain just won’t work. No matter how much we ask it to give us something witty, original, or ground breaking, it just seems to draw a blank. The next time this happens to you try one or several of the ideas suggested below:

Idea #1 – Great minds that think alike

Meet with like-minded people and have a great conversation…laugh a lot! Maybe add in a glass of wine and think outside the box. When anything goes ideas tend to lead from one to another. This is where great ideas and unique event elements come from.

Idea #2 – Change in scenery

Remove a small group of people from their usual environment. Take a trip, lock yourselves away, and shut off cell phones, computers, or any other devices. Usually taking a small trip- to the next town, state, or even overseas will be enough to get the creative juices going.

Idea #3 – Outsourcing

Hire a creative company to help you brainstorm. Sometimes your brain gets bogged down by all of the information floating around concerning your project or goal. Getting a fresh perspective from third parties who specialize in the goal you are trying to achieve can be just what you need.

Idea #4 – Hands-on fun

Lunch and Legos – ask your team to create things from Legos. Simply using your hands and putting things together can create a spark for creativity.

Idea #5 – Mini office parties

Beanbags and pizza or a pajama party are just a couple of ideas. You could even combine the two and have everyone show up in PJ’s to work, spend the morning on bean bag chairs and let the ideas flow – make sure you specify the PJ part!

Anytime you change the environment or method of brainstorming, you will change the outcome and often open up the brain to more creative ideas.
